Uber Eats Is Back!
Popular online food ordering service Uber Eats is back as of Monday 6 April 2020 and will resume service during the 21-day national COVID-19 lockdown. However, there is catch to it.
Before you reach over for your phone to place an order for that McDonalds burger, you may recall that McDonalds, and other fast food chains, are closed. As a result, Uber Eats will only be delivering essential goods as defined by South Africa’s lockdown regulations.
The service will only be available in selected regions during regular operating hours (9AM-5PM) and is subject to availability of the participating stores and goods being sold. A delivery fee of R25 will be charged on all orders, while a reduced fee of R5 will be charged on orders totalling less than R50.
Finally, the online ordering service has stated that during this period it will only be accepting card payment. No cash will be accepted.
